Tragedy
struck in Edo State when a 60-year-old man, named Osarobo Obayuwana, drowned
after an incident of flooding at First Powerline Street, Evbuotubu Quarters in
Egor Local Government.
According
to Punch, Obayuwana tripped and fell while attempting to cross over an
open drainage in the area.
The
deceased reportedly screamed for assistance but got none. This is according to
his relative, Mrs. Izekor Isoken.
She
blamed the tragedy on the lack of safety measures, as the man’s death could
have been prevented if the drainage was covered.
“We were
all crying for help but no one came. He went to buy some food for his aged
mother before he died while trying to cross over.
“If the
drainage had been well done, the man would not have died. We have been
abandoned with no good roads. We make payments but we do not get power supply”,Isoken
said.
