A Texas
mum, 42-year-old Christy Sheats, who was shot dead by police after she shot and
killed her two daughters let her husband survive so he would live with the
anguish of losing his family, police said.
Christy Sheats was said to have been angered by the upcoming marriage of her
eldest daughter, 22 year old Taylor, so she called her daughters and husband
for a family meeting where she proceeded to pull out a .38 caliber handgun,
which she was given by her great-grandfather to “protect her family.”
The mother pointed a gun at her husband, Jason Sheats and her
daughters, 17 year old Madison and Taylor.
A 911 call Madison made while still inside the house reveals what really
took place during that family meeting. The 911 call reveals what is believed to
be Jason asking Sheats,
“Please,
don’t point that gun at us,” as he begs his wife not to shoot them: “I’m sorry.
I promise you, whatever you want…"
Two more
calls were made that day, a second by Taylor that reveals more screaming in the
background, and a third made by a neighbor after Madison, Taylor, and Jason ran
out of the house.
The neighbor, clearly in distress, describes Sheats as wearing a purple dress.
He is also heard walking the dispatcher through the moment when Sheats went
back into the house to reload her gun and the moment she shot Taylor as she
laid on the ground.
“She’s
coming back again. Oh!!! She shot her again. The female that was lying on the
ground.” The neighbor was heard saying over the phone.
That is
when the Fulshear, Texas, police officer gunned down Sheats.
According to a family friend, Madison Davey, Sheats had hidden the handgun in
the couch cushions. When she pulled out the gun, Jason tried to push the girls
out of the front door.
Fort Bend County, Texas, investigators tell KHOU 11 that Taylor was shot once
while inside the home and twice outside the home and Madison was shot just
after she ran out the door of their home, where she collapsed and died.
Jason escaped from the tragedy unharmed after running into a neighbor’s home,
looking for help. He reportedly did not know Sheats owned the gun.
