After staying
out of the country for weeks, Nigerian’s Ex-President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan
yesterday, July 3, returned home.
River State
governor, Mr. Nyesome Wike with other government officials was at the Port
Harcourt international airport to receive Dr. Jonathan and his wife, Dame
Patience Jonathan on arrival.
The former
president who seems to look younger with his smile was seen greeting people who
had come to welcome him. It is unclear how the Bayelsa state politician will
react to the series of arrests made by anti-graft agency, Economic and
Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) which affected many of his aides and some
associates of his government for alleged corrupt practices.
Members of
the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) are also hopeful that his return will bring
calmness into the ship of the party, particularly over the power tussle for the
chairmanship position and also strengthen it to become a more vibrant opposition
party.
