Gunmen
have kidnapped an expatriate worker of a construction company working on the
Lagos State Government’s dualisation of the Epe Township Expansion project in
Epe, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.
Our
correspondent gathered that the expatriate who works for Granebury
Construction, the company handling the Epe Township project, was kidnapped on
Monday evening at the project site.
A source
in Epe said that the police had mounted aerial surveillance in Epe in a bid to
rescue the kidnapped worker.
An armored tank had been stationed at the project site as police officers combed
the area for information on the missing expatriate.
A police
source also confirmed the abduction, adding that the police had commenced
investigation into the incident.
When
contacted, the Lagos State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr.
Ganiu Johnson refused to comment on the matter.
Lagos State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure has also confirmed
the kidnapping of the foreign worker, adding that the state government had been
duly informed about the kidnap and that the police had been informed also and that
all efforts are ongoing to rescue the kidnapped foreign worker.
