The vacation of Manchester
United defender, Chris Smalling went sour after he sustained a
nasty injury above his right eye landed him in the hospital.
After participating in Euro
2016 with England, Smalling and his partner, Sam Cooke flew to
Bali to enjoy their break.
The defender however had fans worried
after pictures of his injury emerged online.
Manchester United said the defender got
the injury after he fainted and fell as a result of severe bout of food
poisoning.
“Manchester United can clarify Chris
Smalling has had food poisoning during his holiday which resulted in him
fainting on Sunday,’ Manchester United said in a statement. The 26-year-old defender was taken to
the hospital and is now feeling fine.”
From the pictures, the 26-year-old
defender is seen with bandages to his head, neck and left hand as he receives
treatment
He has however been given all-clear by
the doctors to resume his vacation before returning to Carrington as planned
later this month.
Smalling's representative
from Wasserman Media Groupalso confirmed that the player suffered from
severe case of food poisoning which led to his fainting and falling.
Following pictures that have been
circulating online this morning and contrary to unfounded media speculation we
can confirm that Chris was taken to hospital after fainting due to a severe
case of food poisoning while on holiday in Bali, they said.
“Chris would like to thank everyone for
their well wishes and is now feeling fine.”
