Nigeria’s
former president, Goodluck Jonathan was on Wednesday at the State
House to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari.
Speaking
to State House correspondents after the meeting, Jonathan emphasized that what
Nigeria needs is unity, adding that the country “is great, not because of oil,
but because of size, human resources, and diversities”.
“If we
balkanise the country into small components we would be forgotten by the
world,” the former president added.
He said
that he, as well as Ijaw leaders, traditional rulers, and opinion leaders in
the Niger Delta region to ensure that peace reigns in the country. He added
that he what we need is a united Nigeria.
Jonathan
who said he has always been visiting the State House (at night), disclosed that
he came to brief President Buhari about some of his external engagements.
